PORTRAITS

Kim paints people whose facial features inspire her. Beauty is so subjective. Sometimes the subjects are people she knows or they are reminiscent of someone from her past, present, or future. Expressive line and color are applied in bold structural strokes. Graphic patterns frame the faces, that are reminiscent of outer energetic auric layers. Straws and ping pong balls adorn some works offering subtle innuendos to sex, recycling, and the notions of use, misuse, and waste.

The faces have striking characteristics that make one question the persona behind the face. The viewer questions: Who are they? What is their story? The titles of these artworks provoke emotions and memories. Kim says, ’I find the dialogue and commentary from my viewers truly enlightening. I learn so much about people from their interpretations. The law of attraction is something that continuously strokes my interest in psychology and what makes us human.’
