CONVERGENCE
Inspired by biomimicry, Kim’s visual language engages the organic fluidity of nature. Hand-sculpted amoebas, cells, sea creatures, and linear forms are created from clay, photographed, and then digitally crafted. Paintings are photographed, magnified, and manipulated into patterns.
ALL IS CONNECTED
“All Is Connected attempts to awaken and remind us who we truly are. This is pure knowledge that we cannot escape nature - simply because we are nature at a cellular level. The works erupt biologically, growing and expanding. The whole body of work is like a kingdom of knowledge and vibration.”
ABSENCE & PRESENCE
“In the ‘Absence and Presence’ series, the artworks share experiences of being human - the basic need to connect, to attach and to be loved. At first, she paints in abstract layers exploring shapes, amoebas, cellular building blocks of connection and universal energy or life force.”
PORTRAITS
“Expressive line and color is applied in bold structural strokes. Graphic patterns frame the faces, that are reminiscent of outer energetic auric layers. Straws and ping pong balls adorn some works offering subtle innuendos to sex, recycling, and the notions of use, misuse, and waste.”
INTERIORS
Kim wants her audience to perceive the appearance of a room before it is occupied. In its emptiness it is ‘occupied’ in the absence of its inhabitants. She questions, ‘what is home?’, and she wants us to push past all facades while still enjoying the view of balanced composition, color, design and beauty.
